Types and selection of plastic injection mold materials
Types and selection of injection mold steel. Dongguan Kehua Precision Injection Mold Processing Factory uses a lot of steel materials for manufacturing plastic molding injection molds, and their processing performance and market supply prices vary.
1. Alloy structural steel
Types and selection of injection mold steel. The performance of alloy structural steel is better than that of carbon structural steel, and the service life of parts used to manufacture injection molds is longer than that of carbon structural steel. According to the classification of main alloy elements, alloy structural steel used in plastic molds can be divided into chromium steel, chromium-nickel steel, chromium-molybdenum steel, chromium-nickel-molybdenum steel, chromium-molybdenum-aluminum steel, chromium-manganese-titanium steel, etc. Although the performance of alloy structural steel is better than that of carbon structural steel, the performance of hardenability, heat treatment deformation, etc. is not much improved. It is generally not suitable for making complex shapes or large integral four-die and punch molds. It is used to make small local sizes in some large and energy tools. In addition, it is still suitable for active forming parts or forming inserts with high requirements for hardness and wear resistance.
2. Carbon structural steel
Carbon structural steel is cheap and has good cutting performance. When the carbon content is low, the strength is poor. When the carbon content is high, the strength is high but the hardenability is poor. The heat treatment deformation is large.
The polishing performance of carbon structural steel is not very good. Carbon structural steel can be used to manufacture injection molding parts with low requirements for dimensional accuracy and surface roughness and small production batches of plastic parts. It can also be used to manufacture guide pillars, guide sleeves and injection mold support parts.
